The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, has nullified the N20 billion aggravated damages awarded to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, well known as Sunday Igboho, against the Federal Government and Department of State Security (DSS).
The presiding judge, Justice Muslim Hassan, also nullified the judgement that declared the attack on Igboho’s house illegal, describing the award for damages against the DSS as outrageous.
An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, the state capital, in September 2021, awarded N20 billion aggravated damages against the FG and DSS in a case of fundamental human rights instituted by Sunday Igboho.

Igboho had demanded N500 billion as reparation for damage to his exotic cars, including Mercedes Benz G-Class and 2019 Lexus Car during the invasion of his residence at Soka, Ibadan in the early hours of Thursday, July 1, 2021, by the DSS operatives.
He also demanded a public apology for the destruction of his property as well as an investigation into the action of the joint security operatives, led by the DSS, during which two persons were killed by the security operatives.
