Bamidele clinches APC Senate ticket, promises constituents more projects

The senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, has vowed to embark on more developmental projects for his constituency in 2023.

Bamidele made the vow in his speech after he emerged the Ekiti Central senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general election.

The senator was elected unopposed on Saturday.

Bamidele, in his acceptance speech made available to The Star on Saturday, expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the APC in Ekiti State, delegates, and members of the party for the trust reposed in him.

Bamidele, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, said it was a rare privilege to be re-elected unopposed, promising that he would never take the decision of the constituents to return him back to Senate for granted.

He said: “I thank the entire 285 Delegates who have come here to unanimously reaffirm my candidature and return me unopposed today as the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the National Assembly election slated for March 2023.

“I appreciate you all for re-entrusting your mandate in me, I thank you all for renewing our social contract, for re-inspiring our shared vision, and for stimulating our common interests once again.

“By speaking with one voice in returning me as your senatorial candidate today, you have indeed reinforced by determination to raise the bar in quality legislative representation and the delivery of developmental deliverables in Ekiti Central Senatorial District and Ekiti State by extension.

“Without mincing word, I reiterate here that it is with a heart of gratitude to Almighty God, a deep sense of indebtedness to our teeming leaders and stalwarts and a greater commitment to the tasks ahead that I accept this ticket. It is indeed, a rare privilege to be given this opportunity and I promise you all that on no occasion will I take your mandate for granted.

“The journey of the last three years has been quite challenging, eventful and equally rewarding.

“The remaining one year in the 9th Senate promises to be highly impactful and re-assuring. Although, the tasks that lie ahead are enormous.

“I promise you a brighter and more rewarding future in my second tenure in office even as I rededicate myself, my talents, and my wealth of unusual experience in government in the service of my constituents in Ekiti Central Senatorial District and in the stewardship to Ekiti State as well as the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“In the years to come, I promise to bring to your doorstep more Bills of far-reaching developmental impacts, more Motions relating to issues of National and International pedigree, more Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Programmes as well a Plethora of life-transforming constituency projects across Ekiti Central Senatorial District. We had done it before, we are doing it now, and we pledge to do much more if I get elected for another term next year.”

The senator further said he would continue to rely on the constituents’ support, urging them to vote for the APC governorship candidate in the state, Biodun Oyebanji, in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

“I appeal to all our leaders, stalwarts, and party faithful to please go out en masse to the length and breadth as well as the nooks and crannies of Ekiti State to propagate the message of BAO, as the flag bearer of our party, to the electorates across the state.

“By so doing, we are sure that more dividends of democracy await our people at all levels while our collective dream of bringing about a new, more United and more prosperous Ekiti will be further annualised,” Bamidele added.
