Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed no fewer than 13 persons in Anguwan Mai-Giro, a border community between Shiroro and Rafi Local Government Areas of Niger State.

It was gathered that the victims were killed during an attack on the community on Wednesday night.

In his reaction, the acting governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba, described the attack as “satanic, insensible, atrocious, and callous”.

“It is very disheartening and disturbing for fellow humans to carry out such a barbaric and vicious act on their fellow humans,” Garba added in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Bologi, on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

The acting governor commiserated with the victims’ families, members of the community, and the entire people of the Local Government Areas over the incident.

Garba reiterated the Bago-led administration’s determination and commitment to address insecurity in Niger State.

He further urged security agencies to redouble their efforts in the fight against insecurity and pledged the state government’s continuous support in all aspects to win the fight.

The acting governor, however, prayed for the repose of souls of those who lost their lives and Allah’s succour to those who sustained injuries.
