The national electricity grid, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, collapsed for the third in one week, leading to a nationwide blackout.

It was gathered that the national grid collapsed at about 8:16 a.m. on Saturday.

It was learnt that the power allocation to electricity distribution companies stood at 0.00MW as of the time of filing this report.

The cause of the grip collapse remained unknown as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has yet to speak on the development.

The Star recalls that the national grid collapsed for the second time in 24 hours on Tuesday, October 15.

Electricity distribution companies (DisCos) announced the grid collapse in separate statements, noting that the grid collapsed at about 9:17 a.m. on Tuesday.

The grid had earlier collapsed at about 6 p.m. on Monday, October 14.

“Please be informed that we experienced another system outage today 15/10/24 at 09:17hrs affecting supply within our network,” Ikeja Electric stated.
