Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has ordered the suspension of salaries of 10,000 workers in the state.
For the 10,000 civil servants, this year Sallah will not be pleasant for them as there won’t be money to celebrate with their families
The Accountant General of Kano State, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, who made this known while speaking on a local Radio talk show in Kano on Monday, said the affected civil servants were employed by the immediate past governor, Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration.
Abdulsalam disclosed that a committee has been set up to investigate their engagement into the civil service, saying the outcome of the findings would play a role in their fate.

The Accountant General also announced the suspension of transfers made by the previous government within the civil service against existing rules, adding that status quo payment should be maintained by the affected government officials
He, however, expressed the readiness of the new administration to pay workers salary by 25th of every month, saying pension and gratuity would also be paid to retired workers.
