It was gathered that Mohbad, a former Marlian record signee, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Confirming his death, music executive, Ovie, in a post on X, stated: “Confirmed. Mohbad is dead. Sad, sad day. R.I.P.”

The Star recalls that Mohbad, in February 2022, alleged that his former label boss, Naira Marley, and other members of the Marlian group were after his life.

He made the allegation in an Instagram live video after his release from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) custody.

The popular singer known for his single hit, ‘Feel Good’, was earlier arrested alongside another musician, Zinoleesky, and four others with illicit drugs in a dawn raid on their apartment in Lagos.

The NDLEA had said that some qualities of cannabis and Molly were found with Mohbad and Zinoleesky and four others in their residence and car.

However, the popular singer, who took to Instagram after his release, said Naira Marley and other members of the Marlian group should be held responsible if anything unpleasant happens to him.

Mohbad was signed to the music label of Naira Marley in 2021.

The singer’s management, however, announced his exit from the record label on October 25, 2022, as his legal team released a statement asserting that Mohbad’s exit was a result of the constant attacks he received, which the lawyers alleged were orchestrated by Naira Marley, and unpaid royalties since 2019.
