Buhari moves to avert Shekarau’s defection to NNPP

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly summoned Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau to Abuja on Friday night in an effort to avert the former governor’s imminent dumping of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Earlier Friday night, Governor Ganduje visited Shekarau’s residence in what appeared as a last minute effort to dissuade the former governor’s exit from the ruling party.

Sources close to Shekarau disclosed that emissaries from Kwankwaso also met with Shekarau on Friday shortly after Ganduje’s departure.

One of the close aides to Kwankwaso, who was part of the emissaries, said Sen. Shekarau assured them that nothing would change his decision of parting ways with the ruling APC.

“Nothing, he assured us that absolutely nothing would change decision that Shura made,” the source disclosed.

The Star also gathered that Kwankwaso also met with Shekarau on Friday night before the latter departed Kano for Abuja to persuade the senator not to change his decision of dumping the APC.
