President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday paid a condolence visit to Lagos residence of the late Head of Interim National Government (ING), Chief Ernest Shonekan, to commiserate with the family.
Buhari visited Shonekan’s family at their Lugard Avenue, Ikoyi’s residence in the company of Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and Mai Mala Buni (Yobe).
The President and the governors were received by the deceased’s family.
The Shonekan’s family appreciated the President and governors to symphatise with the family.
The Star gathered that President Buhari, who was on a one-day presidential visit to Ogun State to inaugurate some projects by Governor Abiodun, stopped in Lagos on his way to Abuja.
He commiserated with the family over the demise of the former Head of ING, who died in Lagos on Tuesday at the age of 85.

Shonekan, a boardroom guru and seasoned administrator, was at the helms of affairs in Nigeria between August 26 and November 17, 1993, after General Ibrahim Babangida stepped aside as military president.
The ING was constituted in August 1993 by Babangida in the aftermath of the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Shonekan was, however, overthrown in a palace coup led by the late Gen. Sani Abacha, who was the Defence Secretary in the Shonekan-led ING.
Prior to his brief political career, Shonekan was the chairman and chief executive of the United African Company (UAC) of Nigeria.
