Buhari to El-Rufai: I can’t find my way in Kaduna, your transformation massive

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, showered encomiums on Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, for transforming Kaduna city and other towns in the state.

In his remarks while inaugurating facilities at the re-modelled Murtala Muhammad Square and Kawo Fly-over bridge within Kaduna metropolis, Buhari said he was impressed by the efforts of the governor.

He said that the transformation of Kaduna metropolis was so massive that even himself (President), as a resident of metropolis, could hardly find his way in the town.

“I have been in Kaduna all the time but can hardly find my way now; you have changed Kaduna; you are writing your history in letters of gold,” Buhari told the governor while inaugurating the Murtala Muhammad Square.

He commended the governor for committing himself to changing the state, adding that people throughout the country were appreciative of his effort.

In his remarks, Governor El-Rufai said the re-modelled Murtala Muhammed Square was first built in the 1970s and handed over to Kaduna State government by the Federal Government.

“Murtala Mohammed Square has been re-built and re-developed, and is now a multi-functional facility, with five restaurants, small boutique, hotel, sporting facilities, football pitch, swimming pool and polo ground,” he said.

President Buhari had earlier inaugurated three road projects in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The roads were Katsina road, Dan haya road and the Emir Palace road, constructed under the Kafanchan Urban Renewal Project of the state government.

Under the Urban Renewal Project of the state government, 21 roads totalling 26.3km were either reconstructed, expanded or dualised in Kafanchan, at a total cost of N12.8 billion.

Buhari, in company of El-Rufai, toured the newly commissioned roads, amidst cheers by the huge crowd of people that trooped out to welcome him.

The President thereafter proceeded to the Emir of Jema’a Palace in Kafanchan to pay homage, after which he left for Kaduna, the state capital, to inaugurate more projects.

The president, who is on a two-day working visit, is expected in Zaria town on Friday, to inaugurate more projects.
