Two suspects, Idowu Kalejaye and one Kingsley, were on Monday arraigned before the Ikeja High Court for allegedly stealing a Toyota Corolla car.
The defendants are standing trial for alleged snatching of the car and robbing the driver of some valuables.
The witness, Abiodun Olukayode Tunde, 45, told the court that the two defendants, with one other person at large, committed the offence on November 12, 2019, at Ifako bus stop in the Oworonshoki area of Lagos State.
He alleged that the defendants conspired and snatched the Toyota Corolla car belonging to Mr. Monday Olugaza, who lives outside Nigeria.
According to Olukayode, the car, before it was snatched from him by the defendants was on a hire-purchase, adding that the car was on Taxify as of 2019.
The witness, while noting that he took Kalejaye and Kingsley from the Alapere bus stop in Ketu, stated that he was heading to Lekki before the car was snatched from him after the defendants pulled him out of the vehicle at about 11p.m. at the sharp-bend between Gbagada and Bariga.
He further noted that the Toyota Corolla car was recovered by the police in December 2019 after he reported the incident at Iyana Oworo, and Ifako police station.
Olukayode, who alleged that he sustained injuries and had his valuables stolen which include phones and cash, pleaded with the court to compensate him with his medical bill and money for his belongings in the sum of N60,000.
Justice O.A. Ogala adjourned the matter until February 21 and 23, 2022, for hearing.
