A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, has ordered the arrest and committal to the correctional centre of the immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Ogah, for forgery.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in suit no. UMSC/362/2022, had accused Ogah of forging the party’s primary election result after he failed to participate in the exercise in May 26, 2022.
The APC stated that the forgery perpetrated by the former minister was prejudicial to the party and its governorship flag-bearer in Abia State, Ikechi Emenike.

Delivering judgement on Thursday, the presiding magistrate, Ngozi Nwangwa, convicted Ogah, saying the defendant “is guilty as charged. I am convinced that the defendant has no defence.”
“I hereby commit Dr Uche Ogah for the offence as charged,” Nwangwa added.
The magistrate equally ordered security agencies to arrest and keep the former minister in the nearest custodial centre pending the day he would be brought to the court for sentencing.
