Court sends man to prison for raping 4-year-old girl

The Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State has remanded a man, Obiesan Sultan, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl.

Sultan, who was remanded on Monday, November 25, 2024, is facing trial on a two-count charge of defilement and sexual assault by penetration, preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.

The state counsel, Bukola Okeowo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences at Ojewale Street in the Gbagada area of Lagos on October 9 2023.

Okeowo said the man penetrated the private part of the four-year-old girl.

She told the court that the defendant also inserted his fingers into the minor’s private part.

The presiding judge, Justice Rahman Oshodi, remanded the defendant after he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Oshodi adjourned the case until March 6, 2025, for the commencement of trial.
