David Mark loses first son to cancer

Former Senate President, David Mark, has lost his 51-year-old son, Tunde Jonathan Mark.

The death of Tunde was confirmed via a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to former Senate President, Paul Mumeh.

Mumeh stated that the younger Mark died in a London hospital on Friday morning after a long battle with cancer.

“He passed away peacefully surrounded by family members and loved ones. Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course,” he added.

Tunde, who was named after his father’s best friend, Tunde Jonathan Ogbeha, was the first son of the former Senate President.

The deceased was born on October 13, 1971.

He attended Yaba Military School in Yaba, Lagos State where he obtained his first school leaving certificate.

He later proceeded to Bradfield College, Berkshire, the United Kingdom for his secondary education.

Tunde was a Biochemist who obtained a B.Sc degree from Kings College, London.

He studied Immunology alongside biochemistry and later Biological Sciences in the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, Harvard, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

He was married with a daughter.
