Multiple award-winning Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, says he only demanded joint custody of his daughter, Imade.
The Star recalls that Davido recently filed a suit against Imade’s daughter, Sophia Momodu, at the Lagos State High Court over the custody of their 9-year-old child.
Momodu, in a counter-affidavit filed in opposition to Davido’s suit, told the court sitting in the Yaba area of Lagos on Friday, July 5, 2024, not to grant the child’s custody to the singer.
Momodu said Davido was not fit to be granted custody of their daughter because he is always not available and does not possess the ability to dutifully care for her.
Reacting via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Davido wrote: “All I asked for was ‘joint custody’ but cus it’s Davido yall wanna act like yall can’t read! SMH I’m off this… yall be blessed and I pray this never happens to you.”

The singer further condemned Momodu’s citation of the death of his son, Ifeanyi, who drowned in a swimming pool at his Lagos mansion, in her counter-suit.
He also reiterated his love for Imade, saying: “Your constantly bringing up the death of my child at any point u can to just remind us of this tragedy that haunts us everyday of our lives.
“Imade will grow up to see I fought for her. As for now u can have her. P.S she won’t be a child forever.. enjoy ❤️ Imade Aurora Adeleke! Your father loves you!”
An X user, @kill4Lizz, later wrote: “Don’t use your deceased child to play victim! She raised a safety concern! Which is very very valid. She is fighting for her child!”
Responding, Davido said: “Make she keep am.”
It would be recalled that Davido recently married his longtime girlfriend, Chioma, at a lavish ceremony in Lagos.
