Davido to donate N20m to business owners Friday

Award-winning Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said that he would on Friday donate N20m to 20 business owners in the country.

Davido made this known via a tweet on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday.

The famous singer further called on business owners to send their ideas to him.

He wrote: “Country hard right now sha … let’s give 20 m to 20 pple on Friday … send in your business ideas or start up ideas … more details shortly.”

The Fall crooner, in another tweet, said: “Government has failed. It’s time for us to help each other now.”

This is coming barely a few hours after Davido was slammed on Twitter after he lamented the huge amount of money to clear his new Lamborghini at the Nigerian port.

Davido had in December announced the purchase of the brand new Lamborghini Aventador worth over N275m, saying the car was an early Christmas gift.

The award-winning singer, however, took to his Twitter handle on Wednesday and expressed displeasure over the cost of clearing his new car.

He further enjoined Nigerians to pray for the country saying: “U don’t even wanna know how much I just payed to clear my lambo… Pray for Nigeria … Jesus.”

However, the tweet was greeted with condemnations as some Twitter users knocked Davido for bragging about his activities.

The new Lamborghini will join Davido’s already extensive garage of expensive cars, which include several Range Rover, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, amongst others.

The musician, known for his benevolent act, had donated N250 million to 292 orphanages across Nigeria.

The Star recalls that ahead of Davido’s 29th birthday, on November 19, 2021, the popular singer opened a Wema Bank account and asked friends and colleagues to donate N1 million each.

Davido, in a few hours, amassed over N100 million, which later grew to N200million over a few days.

The Aye crooner added a personal donation of N50 million, making the total amount N250 million.
