A veteran newspaper editor, Mr. Dele Alake, has been appointed Special Adviser, Special Duties, Communications and Strategy by President Bola Tinubu.

Alake served as Commissioner for Information and Strategy when Tinubu was Governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007.

The Ekiti State-born journalist was the Editor of the defunct National Concord owned by the late Chief MKO Abiola.

Alake was communication advisor to Abiola during the June 12, 1993 presidential election. He was Adviser, Media and Communications for the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.

Alake graduated with Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Political Science from the University of Lagos in 1978. In 1981, he obtained a master’s degree in Mass Communications from the same university.

Meanwhile, the President also appointed one of his former commissioners in Lagos, Mr. Wale Edun as Special Adviser, Monetary Policies.

Edun, an economist, was former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance.

Tinubu also appointed former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), AIG Nuhu Ribadu as Special Adviser on Security.

Also appointed is Mr. Yau Darazo as Special Adviser, Political and Intergovernmental Affairs.

Mrs. Olu Verheijen is Special Adviser, Energy while Mr. Zachaeus Adedeji is the Special Adviser, Revenue.

Mr. John Ugochukwu Uwajumogu is the Special Adviser, Industry, Trade and Investment while Dr (Mrs.) Salma Ibrahim Anas is Special Adviser, Health.

The appointments were announced on Thursday by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director Information at the State House.
