Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has urged residents of the state to turn out en masse to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the March 11 governorship election in the state.
Okowa said this became important following the outcome of the February 25 presidential election.
The governor said this through the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, in Asaba, the state capital on Thursday.
“We want to urge our people not to lose hope in our democracy. The challenge of the last presidential election is a different ball game.
“We equally know that our people are not happy with the outcome of the presidential election, but we must sustain and consolidate on our achievements in the state.

“We appeal to our people to put the experience behind them while our principals are taking steps to recover the mandate we believe was stolen,” Aniagwu said.
The commissioner called on the people of Delta State to keep faith with what he described as the “developmental trajectory” of Okowa’s administration in the state in the past seven-and-half years.
He said the state government was convinced that the best way to sustain the development was for the people to vote the Sheriff/Onyeme governorship ticket of the PDP in the state.
“Any other ticket as far as the governorship election in the state is concerned may not be in the interest of the people of Delta,” he stated.
Aniagwu also refuted speculations by opposition parties that the state government was planning to access new loan facility.
“On behalf of the state government, I make it categorically clear that the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration is not seeking any additional loan.
“The loan we took before was more or less a bridging finance which was on account of the funds we were expecting from the Federal Government shortfalls in remittances accruable to our state,” Aniagwu stressed.
