The Defence Headquarters has spoken about the attack by terrorists on the convoy of Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, along the Maiduguri-Damaturu Road in Borno State.

It would be recalled that the governor’s convoy was ambushed by terrorists while returning to Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, from Maiduguri, about 6 kilometres from Benesheikh town on Saturday.

Buni was not in the convoy when it was attacked.

It was further gathered that two police officers were killed in the attack.

The Secretary to the State Government and some other top government officials who were in the convoy were unhurt.

Speaking on the incident, the Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, in a statement on Monday, said the troops of 29 Task Force Brigade recovered the two vehicles affected in the incident.
