The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a lead in Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State.
According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, September 22, 2024, APC won 10 Local Government Areas, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won six LGAs.
Before the announcement of a break at the collation centre in Benin, the Edo State capital, the electoral umpire had announced results from 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
Edo State has 18 Local Government Areas.
The results from two local government areas were still being expected.
The results showed that the APC has over 48,000 votes ahead of the PDP.
APC has 244,549 votes as against PDP’s 195,954.
Edo election: INEC to resume result collation at 10am
The retuning officer however announced that the collation of results will resume at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
