The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) have arrested no fewer than three suspected vote-buyers in the ongoing governorship election in Edo State.
The suspects, comprising two men and a woman, were arrested for vote-buying in the Egor Local Government Area of Edo State at about 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
The EFCC operatives were deployed to all Local Government Areas of Edo State to tackle voters’ inducement during Saturday’s governorship election.
The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, said the anti-graft agency was committed to the attainment of electoral integrity across the country by insulating voters from every form of financial inducement in exercising their franchise.

“Vote buying is a financial crime and the EFCC won’t allow it anywhere.”
He added that the commission has always been involved in monitoring every electoral process across the country in line with its mandate of tackling all forms of economic and financial crimes.
