Austin Eguavoen
Austin Eguavoen has resigned from his position as the head coach of the Nigerian national team, Super Eagles.
This is coming after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Eguavoen had failed to qualify the team for the World Cup after a 1–1 draw with the Black Stars of Ghana on Tuesday.
The latest development was confirmed by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), noting that Eguaveon has stepped down from his role as Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles.
The NFF, in a statement on its website, added that it has also terminated the appointment of the entire technical crew.
The statement read: “Following the failure of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the erstwhile Technical Adviser, Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down from that position with immediate effect.

“The NFF has in the meantime withdrawn the two-and-half years’ contract offered the coaches and terminated the appointment of the entire technical crew of the team with immediate effect.
“A new crew will be announced after a proper review to lead the new charge of reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately.”
