Kano State Government has declared a 10-day Sallah break for primary and secondary students in the state.

According to the Kano State Ministry of Education, the break applies to both public and private schools as well as day and boarding schools in the state.

A statement issued by ministry’s Deputy Director, Information, Aliyu Yusuf, said the break would commence on Thursday, July 7 and end on Sunday, July 17 and Monday, July 18 for boarding and day students, respectively.

“Kano State Ministry of Education has approved 10 days Eid El- Kabir Sallah Break for all Public and Private Primary and Post Primary Schools in the state.

“Parents/Guardians of Pupils and Students of the schools should note that the break will commence on Thursday 7th to Sunday 17th July 2022,” the statement partly read.

The break, however, exempted SSS3 students writing final examinations and students from other states on exchange programme.

“The ministry therefore, directed that all SS3 students writing NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS examinations as well as students on exchange programme from other states at GSS Gwarzo and GGSS Shekara are to remain in their respective schools.

“The Ministry directed head teachers and principals to ensure that all schools and students return to schools as and when due to resume their academic activities after the festive period as defaulting students would be sanctioned appropriately,” the statement added.
