The governor-elect of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has visited a former governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, in Lagos.
Oyebanji disclosed his visit to the former governor via his Twitter handle on Wednesday.
The governor-elect, who shared pictures of the meeting with Fayose, said the visit was in line with his plan to reach out to Ekiti leaders before his swearing-in in October 2022.
He stated: “Earlier today, I paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos residence of former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose.
“The visit is in line with my plan to reach out to notable Ekiti leaders before taking over the mantle of leadership.
“Our discussion centred mainly on Ekiti development and the need for every citizen to play his or her role creditably.

“Ex-Governor Fayose, the PDP Governorship Candidate, Chief Bisi Kolawole and the state chapter of PDP had sent congratulatory messages to me shortly after I was declared winner of the June 18 election. I do not take the gestures for granted,” Oyebanji said.
Oyebanji, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had emerged as the winner of the just concluded gubernatorial election in Ekiti State after polling 187,057 votes to defeat his two closest challengers – Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Oni came second in the election with 82,211 votes, while Kolawole occupied the third position with 67,457 votes.
However, Oyebanji’s visit to Fayose is coming amidst the call by the former governor that the Southern region of the country must produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023.
Fayose, a PDP presidential aspirant, added that “Nigerians should await details soon”.
