Ex-ExxonMobil official, policeman die in hotels

A former ExxonMobil staff and a police officer (names withheld) have been confirmed dead in hotels in the Eket area of Akwa Ibom State.

The incident was confirmed by the Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, on Friday, October 25, 2024.

John disclosed that the former ExxonMobil official died at the Villa Marina Hotels in Eket on Sunday, October 20, while the police officer died at the Tevoli Hotels in Eket on October 14.

“The former ExxonMobil staff died at the hotel in Eket. He died as a result of slipping when he came out from the bathroom and fell and hit his head on the tiles,” John, who did not disclose the names of the deceased, said.

She added that the police officer who came from Lagos to Eket on an official assignment died of heart failure.

The police spokesperson stated that necessary investigation had been done, adding that the police have released the corpse to the family for burial.
