The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved provisional licenses for 11 private universities in the country.

The Minister of Education, Dr Morufu Alausa, made this known while briefing State House Correspondents after the FEC meeting in Abuja on Monday, March 3, 2025.

Alausa listed the universities to include New City University, Ayetoro in Ogun State; University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State; Eranova University, Mabushi, Abuja; Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun State; and Abubakar Toyin University, Oke-Agba, Kwara State.

Others are Southern Atlantic University Uyo, Akwa Ibom; Lens University, Ilmona, Kwara State; Monarch University, Iyesi-Ota, Ogun State; Tonnie Iredia University of Communication, Benin in Edo State; Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, Lagos State; and Kevin Eze University, Mgbowo in Enugu State.

Alausa said the administration of President Bola Tinubu was committed to expanding the frontiers of educational opportunities and infrastructure, hence the approval of the new universities.
