The Federal Government has appointed Anamekwe Chukwunyere Nwabuoku to oversee the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, pending the outcome of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation of the suspended AGF, Ahmad Idris.
The Personal Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad, made the disclosure via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday.
He wrote: “Mr. Anamekwe Chukwunyere Nwabuoku has been appointed to oversee the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, pending the outcome of the EFCC investigation of the suspended AGF, Ahmad Idris.”

Idris had been suspended indefinitely by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed via a letter dated May 18, 2022.
The minister stated that the suspension was to allow for “proper and unhindered investigation” in line with public service rules.
The suspension came two days after Idris was arrested by the EFCC over an alleged N80 billion fraud.
