There was tension in the Mushin area of Lagos State on Wednesday as a three-storey building was gutted by fire.
It was gathered that the building, close to a filling station, was razed after a tanker discharging Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol, exploded.
The inferno was confirmed by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The Agency Acting Zonal Coordinator, South West, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, who confirmed the incident via a statement, said the fire outbreak occurred at a Mobil Petrol Station about 1p.m
Farinloye added that fire gutted the residential building located at No. 71, Agege Motor Road, Alakara in the Mushin area of Lagos State.
He stated that no life was lost and no one was injured in the inferno, adding that the containment of the fire has been successful.
“Efforts are ongoing to salvage the three-storey building from being totally consumed.

“The few items that were saved have been deposited at the Alakara Police Station which is opposite the building,” the NEMA acting coordinator noted.
The incident was also confirmed by the Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Adeseye Margaret.
She stated that although the cause of the fire had yet to be ascertained, the “officials of the Lagos State Fire Service remain on top of the situation and will provide necessary updates as situation demands.”
She, therefore, enjoined motorists to seek alternative route away from the Idi Oro Corridor of Agege Motor Road, Mushin.
