Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that he is not afraid of probe, saying he acted based on approvals as the Accountant General of the state.
Fubara had, last Monday, declared his readiness to set up a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the administration of his predecessor and Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike.
Fubara served as the Accountant General of Rivers State in Wike’s administration.
He however vowed to probe the former governor’s regime while swearing in Dagogo Iboroma (SAN) as the Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice at Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Iboroma replaced former Attorney General Zachaeus Adangor, an ally of Wike, who resigned his appointment in April after he was redeployed to the Ministry of Special Duties.
Fubara, who was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in May 2022 over an alleged N435 billion fraud, said he would set up a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate how the affairs of governance were conducted in Rivers State before he assumed office.

Speaking at the inauguration of 21.49km Egbeda internal roads in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State on Tuesday, May 21, the governor said he has been operating a government of transparency, adding that there was a record of all his activities.
He said: “Everything that we are doing is in my white paper. I carry it along, so, there is no issue of any manipulation.
“Call me any day, anytime, it is there. Even the ones I did before this time, I still have all the records. If you call me any day, I will bring the records of all my activities in government.
“I know that as a civil servant, what is most important is record-keeping so that if you are not there, and something happens, it is just for somebody to pick up the file and he will see the history.
“That is how I am trained, and I have that in my mind before I do anything. So, I am not scared of anything.
“Anybody who calls me any day, anytime, I have my records to show. I have all the approvals to show that I acted based on approval and not personal decision.”
