The Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN),has sympathised with the students of the institution over transportation hardship encounter daily while going to campus.
Egbewole said: “The entire management team of the university feels the pains of the hardship that students and staff go through every morning and evening on their way to and from the campus.
“I observed that the issue of inadequate transportation leaves many stranded every morning and evening during the peak hours.
“Even the injection of more buses to the campus route has not achieved any tangible result as the nationwide fuel scarcity has compounded the situation, thereby rubbishing such intervention.
“In order to mitigate the effect of this unfortunate situation on our students, especially the management has instructed the adjustment of lecture time table to make it more flexible,” he said.
The university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, quoted the vice chancellor on Wednesday, January 25, as saying this in a statement he issued to newsmen.
Akogun said the institution had renewed the zoom licences to activate the virtual lecture option recently approved by the Vice Chancellor.
“While further mitigation steps are being considered, the management appeals to all for your continuous understanding.
“As everybody knows that the factors responsible for the present situation are not peculiar to the University of Ilorin.”
