FULL LIST: FG removes VAT on electric vehicles, gas generators, 61 others

The Federal Government has announced the removal of Value-Added Tax (VAT) on 63 items, including electric vehicles and gas generators.

The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, announced this in a post on X on Friday, October 4, 2024.

Oyedele disclosed that the exempted items are contained in an official gazette for the ‘Value Added Tax (Modification) Order, 2024’ dated September 3, 2024.

He wrote: “Official Gazette of Value Added Tax (Modification) Order, 2024

“A new order has been issued to formalise and extend the suspension of VAT on diesel. In addition, the order grants VAT exemption on CNG, electric vehicles, biogas, and biofuel equipment and accessories for clean cooking and transportation.”

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, had on Wednesday, October 2, announced that the federal government has exempted Liquefied Petroleum Gas and Automotive Gas Oil, fondly called diesel.
