In what appears as last minute effort to dissuade the former governor of Kano State, Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau, from dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC,) the incumbent governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje has commenced move to stop the defection.
Shekarau, a senator representing Kano Central District, lost power tussle to Ganduje of APC structure in Kano.
The former governor was believed to have concluded discussion with Rabiu Kwankwaso to team up against Ganduje in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
A source close to Shekarau disclosed to the The Star that Governor Ganduje was at the Mundubawa residence of Shekarau on Friday night.

“Yes, Governor Ganduje just left. They went inside and had a discussion, but nobody really knows what they discussed,” the source added.
However, scores of Shekarau supporters booed Governor Ganduje chanting “ba mayi, ba mayi”, which translates “we don’t support, we don’t support.”
