Glo Jolly Win promo produces first millionaire

A subscriber, Olieh Somtochukwu, has emerged as the first person to win N1 million in the Glo Jolly Win promo by telecommunication giant Globacom.

The promo is organised in conjunction with NCC-licensed Nitroswitch, an aggregator company, and Tetragrammaton, the value-added service provider to subscribers on Glo network.

Somtochukwu, a member of staff of a real estate company in Anambra State, became the first subscriber to win a million naira in the Glo Jolly Win promo in the first round of winnings celebrated in Lagos on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

Somtochukwu, who disclosed that he played with N100, became an instant millionaire in the promo draw held in line with the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) procedure.

The excited winner, who received the alert for his N1 million prize on his phone during the brief presentation, said he had to travel from Onitsha in Anambra State to receive his prize.

He said after playing the lottery game, he forgot about it but was shocked when he received a call informing him of his good fortune.

He added that he refused to be swayed by the information until he arrived at Globacom’s office and saw himself as the centre of attraction.

Somtochukwu said: “I was very much surprised. Even up to now, I’m still shocked. I am short of words to express how I feel today (Wednesday).

“I thought it was a scam when I was called, I thought it was one of those random calls you get, but on coming here, I can say I am happy with what has happened here. I’ve received the alert for the N1 million.”

Somtochukwu added that the money came in at a time when he needed assistance to take care of his health.

Mojeed Aluko of VAS Department at Globacom said: “The Glo Jolly Win is a lottery service in which subscribers can answer trivia questions or spin a wheel to win loads of airtime and cash prizes for as low as N100 daily, with no need for downloads or any storage usage on phones.

“Subscribers can select their preferred services from the options of Jolly Trivia, Wheel, Win & Life to join in the fun and excitement of the lottery with the potential to become millionaires like Somtochukwu”.

Aluko, according to a statement issued by Glo on Saturday, September 14, explained that subscribers can opt for a one-time daily package or set it at auto-renewal.

Aluko added: “There is also an option of a one-time weekly subscription or an auto-renewal package while subscribers can also have a one-time monthly package or set it on auto-renewal.

“Subscribers who wish to participate in the promo are required to dial *20152# or, in the alternative, send JWD, JWW or JWM to 20152 as applicable.”

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Nitroswitch, Chidi Nnadozie, said his company was proud to collaborate with Globacom to bring excitement and rewards to Glo subscribers through the lottery.

Nnadozie added that more fun and benefits await subscribers who participate in the various offers on the Glo network.
