Nigeria’s telecommunications company Globacom has disclosed ongoing efforts to guarantee enhanced customer experience for existing and new customers nationwide on the network.
Globacom made this known in a statement on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
The company said in order to provide an increasing number of Nigerians with faster internet speed and an improved data experience, it started the current phase of network improvement, which commenced in 2024.
Glo noted that the project entails rolling out new sites nationally and upgrading existing ones to meet the challenges of a growing population.
In response to the recent increase in telecom rates, Globacom said it remained committed to building a top-notch telecommunications infrastructure and providing its customers with the most affordable prices for data and voice services.
It further stated that the service update included all aspects of the telecom infrastructure upgrade, including the expansion of passive equipment such as electricity and environment, as well as the core network, access network, transmission and IP network, fiber network, metro access, and backbone infrastructure.
The company noted that it has over the past few months built hundreds of new sites in Abuja, Rivers, Edo, Ogun, Delta, Cross River, Kaduna, Kano, Lagos, Ogun, Nasarawa, and Rivers States.
Globacom said: “Expanding network capacity, giving subscribers additional resources for improved voice and data, and improving customer experience in congested areas were the goals of the upgrade.
“Hundreds more LTE 2600 sites were also incorporated in major markets in Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Kwara as well as in several tertiary institutions in Rivers, Edo, Abuja, Enugu, and Anambra States. This was done in order to improve high-speed data in the regions and guarantee that there is no network congestion.

“In keeping with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy’s and the Federal Government of Nigeria’s broadband penetration initiative, Globacom has expanded the capacity of its data network and improved 1700 sites, primarily in the states of Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and Plateau.
“This will enhance the customer’s network experience and satisfaction in terms of service delivery, network quality, coverage, as well as the customer’s data throughput or speed.
“In order to increase coverage and capacity demand nationwide, hundreds of additional sites with 2G, 3G, and 4G base stations are also being deployed.
“In the end, this will enhance the network experience and satisfaction of customers with regard to service delivery, network quality, and coverage.
“In order to facilitate these growth initiatives and guarantee Glo clients smooth access to ultra-high speed, the Glo1 submarine cable capacity was recently increased to guarantee optimal utilization.
“It will efficiently support the technological advancements and enhancements, guaranteeing a distinctive calling and surfing experience on the Glo network at all times.
“Also, Glo has started a large countrywide initiative to replace thousands of kilometers of fiber routes and laying new ones.
“Electricity infrastructure is also being taken care of while also installing thousands of brand new generators. This is aimed at creating more redundancy for better network availability.”
