Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, on Saturday, lost his bid to represent the state North Senatorial District in the Senate in 2023.

Ayade, who is also a presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), contested against Adams Cecelia and Martin Orim.

The governor, however, came third in the primaries with 52 votes as he was defeated by Adams, who scored 140 votes, while the other aspirant, Orim, polled 61 votes.

The Star, on May 12, reported that Governor Ayade obtained the APC Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the senatorial seat.

The governor had earlier obtained the N100 million APC presidential nomination forms to vie for the presidential ticket of the ruling party.

Ayade, a two-term governor of Cross River State, is in league with Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, who has obtained both the presidential and senatorial forms.
