Gov Mutfwang imposes 24-hour curfew on Plateau LG over killings

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the Mangu Local Government Area of the state over the recent killings in the LGA.

The Star had earlier reported that gunmen, on Saturday night, killed nine persons, burnt six houses, and destroyed many other properties in Sabon Gari in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Reacting to the attack, Mutfwang, in a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, on Sunday, said movements within the affected Local Government Area have been banned until further notice.

Bere stated: “The State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Mangu Local Government Area, following recent attacks that led to loss of lives and properties.

“The Governor, in consultation with the State Security Council, imposed the curfew on the entire Local Government Area to restore law and order.

“Consequently, movements within the Local Government have been banned until further notice except for security personnel and persons on essential duties.

“Security agencies have therefore been directed to ensure total enforcement of the curfew.”

He, however, assured the residents that the Plateau State Government is working round-the-clock to restore peace and security in the state.
