Grammy Awards: You’re winners, Tinubu tells Burna Boy, Davido

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian singers nominated for the 2024 Grammy Awards, saying they are all winners.

The Star had reported that Nigerian singers – Burna Boy, Davido, Olamide, Asake, and Ayra Starr – lost all of their nominations at the 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles, United States, on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

However, Tinubu, on Monday, said the musicians put Nigeria on the chart of cultural command through their artistry and anthemic earworms.

The president, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, added that the singers’ disposition earned Nigeria enormous soft power across the globe.

He also commended the Grammy Awards nominees for their “fidelity to the art, audacity, and discipline in the pursuit of excellence”.

Tinubu said: “Our superstars nominated for the Grammy Awards are all winners. I am proud of their exploits.

“They represent that Nigerian ideal; the courage to strive and succeed against all odds and the hope to stay true to purpose.

“I congratulate and thank them for being exemplary envoys of Nigeria.”
