A non-political group, Christain Conscience, has called on all political parties to allow their campaign ahead of 2023 general election to be issue-based rather than let mundane things dominate it.

The group said when issues that can mould the opinion of voters are discussed, it becomes very easy to determine how to elect credible and God-fearing leaders.

The Christain Conscience further argued that now that Nigeria is moving on the path of progress and positive signals towards credible elections from the electoral umpire, the country looks forward to saying good bye to negative infractions on the nation’s electoral processes in 2023.

The group said this via a statement jointly signed by its National Chairman, Dr Yetunde Akinluyi, and the National Secretary, Revd Kolawole Verralls, after the August edition of the monthly meeting of group on Monday.

The Christain Conscience urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to “continue to educate the masses, sensitisation of the electorates and other stakeholders on the general and technological improvement on its operations which was demonstrated at the recent elections in Ekiti and Osun states.

“Though there were still some complaints, we want them to improve on performance index so that the 2023 general elections will be the best to be conducted so far in the country.

“As stake holders in project Nigeria, we are watching keenly with all arsenal in our possession while promising Nigerians that any infraction noticed before and during the campaign period shall be made available to them so as to make up their minds on who to vote for.

“Everyone should have a positive mind towards 2023 elections, not to overheat the polity considering the fragile situation of the Nation,” the group said.

It further appeal to the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to keep to its promise by providing level playing field to all candidates, especially by calling on the security agencies and all concerned to be above board, before and during the 2023 general election.

The Christain Conscience, however, enjoined Nigerians to shun any act of violence in the forthcoming campaigns and the general election.
