Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and his wife, Cristina Serra, have decided to “go their separate ways” after more than together.
Reports in Spain revealed this on Monday night.
It is widely believed that the pair have spent the last six years of their relationship living apart, with the 53-year-old Premier League coach remaining largely based in Manchester, while his wife moved between Barcelona and London.
Guardiola and Serra would often reunite on important dates for the family and to celebrate achievements of both Manchester City and the head coach, as well as for leisure alongside their children.
Guardiola has often spoke publicly about the relationship with his wife in Manchester City press conferences and media duties, saying in January 2024: “My wife is the best in the world at many things, especially fashion.
‘I’m not good enough’: Guardiola speaks on Man City’s woes
“She says normally to me, don’t wear this or wear that, so I follow. I’m smart enough to know when people are much better than me, follow their advice.”
But now, according to a report from Spain among various other outlets, it has been revealed that Guardiola and Serra have decided to part ways after over 30 years spent together.
It is detailed that the pair came to the decision last December, and have asked their closest circle to “close ranks” and not explain any details to the media, while continuing to be seen in public ‘getting along well’.
That comes after Guardiola and Serra were spotted in Barcelona going to the theatre with one of their daughters, and despite the break-up, their relationship is reportedly “totally cordial, stable, and friendly”.
