Gunmen have abducted no fewer than 10 maritime workers travelling along the Bonny–Port Harcourt waterway in Rivers State.
It was gathered that the workers travelling between Bonny and Port Harcourt were abducted by the gunmen in the early hours of Monday, September 2, 2024.
The abduction was confirmed by the Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Rivers State District, Isreal Waribo Pepple.

“10 persons have been kidnapped this morning coming from Bonny to Port Harcourt. We’ve reported to the security agencies” Pepple said.
Also confirming the incident, the Rivers State Police Command said the state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olugbenga Adepoju, and the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the area to ensure the immediate rescue of the abducted victims.
