Gunmen kidnap Catholic priest in Kaduna

Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Silas, in Zambina, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It was gathered that the Catholic priest was abducted in the early hours of Monday.

The abduction of the cleric was confirmed by the chancellor of the Catholic diocese of Kafanchan, Emmanuel Uchechukwu Okolo.

Okolo, who confirmed the incident via a statement he personally issued on Monday, disclosed that Silas was abducted from the parish rectory at St. Charles Catholic Church in Zambina.

“We solicit an intense prayer for his quick and safe release, we equally wish to call on all and sundry to refrain from taking the laws into their hands. We will use every legitimate means to ensure his quick and safe release.

“May Jesus crucified on the Cross, listen to our prayers and hasten the unconditional release of His Priest and all other kidnapped persons,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command has yet to react to the latest abduction in the state as of the time of filing this report.
