Gunmen kidnap couple returning from church in Osun

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a couple while returning from a church programme on the Osogbo-Iragbiji Road in Osun State.

It was gathered that the couple was kidnapped while returning from the church at about 4 a.m. on Saturday, April 15.

The man and his wife were said to be riding on a motorcycle when they ran into an ambush mounted by the kidnappers.

Confirming the incident on Monday, April 17, the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, said the police were on the trail of the kidnappers.

“Operatives are combing the bush in the area and we assure the public that the victims will be rescued and the criminals will not escape justice,” Opalola said.

Local hunters and police operatives were also said to be combing the forest in the area in search of the couple and the abductors.
