Gunmen kidnap Kogi LG chairman, aides

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the caretaker chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Zacchaeus Michael, in the state.

It was gathered that the chairman was kidnapped alongside some of his aides on Friday night.

The victims were said to have been abducted on the Kabba-Okene expressway in Kabba, Kogi State.

A Facebook user, Olayinka Samuel, in a post on Friday night, stated: “Reports indicate that CTC Kabba/Bunu Chairman Barr Zacchaeus Dare Michael and some of his aides have been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on the Kabba-Okene expressway in Kabba.

“Authorities are seeking any credible information that may aid in their safe rescue. I urge everyone to pray for their immediate and safe release, asking for divine intervention and protection during this critical time.”

The incident was confirmed by the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

“The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, has already deployed officers for a search-and-rescue mission. We are on top of the situation,” Aya disclosed.
