Gunmen kidnap Plateau commissioner’s wife, daughter

Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped the wife and daughter of Plateau Commissioner for Environment, Usman Bamaiyi.

It was gathered that the gunmen broke into the commissioner’s residence in Gindiri in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State and abducted his wife and daughter in the early hours of Saturday.

A resident of the community, Ibrahim Chindo, disclosed that Gindiri area was “under seige”.

“Bandits and terrorists have continued to terrorise innocent citizens with no sign of relief in sight. Everyone is scared here,” he said.

The incident was confirmed by the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Gabriel Ogaba.

The police spokesperson said efforts were ongoing to rescue the abducted commissioner’s wife and daughter.

“We are aware of the incident, the police have swung into action on the trail of the kidnappers. Investigation is ongoing to save them,” Ogaba stated.

Usman Bamaiyi is one of the aspirants for a seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
