There was panic at the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State on Wednesday as gunshots rented the atmosphere around the premises.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at the secretariat located along Woji Road, GRA, Port Harcourt, following protests by APC members during screening on Wednesday.
Scores of APC members loyal to former Senator, Magnus Abe, thronged the premises, alleging hijack of state assembly aspirants screening and ward/state delegate selection.
Abe, who served as a Senator for Rivers South East Senatorial District, is a governorship aspirant of the APC.

It was learnt that the pandemonium began at the APC secretariat when the aggrieved party members attempted to force open the gates which were under lock and key.
The attempt was said to have led the police officers at the secretariat to shoot into the air as people around the premises scampered for safety.
