President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former President Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States.
Trump is on the verge of winning the November 5, 2024, presidential election in the U.S. with 266 Electoral College votes compared with 219 for his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, as of 11:15 a.m. (Nigerian time) on Wednesday, November 6.
A victory would make Trump become the first former president to return to the White House in more than 100 years.
Tinubu, while speaking on the election via a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, said: “Acknowledging the United States’ influence, power, and position in determining the trend and course of global events, President Trump will bring the world closer to peace and prosperity.”
