Housewife commits suicide after setting husband ablaze in Osun

A housewife, Ifeoluwa Bamidele, who allegedly set her husband, Bolu, ablaze in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, has committed suicide.

Bamidele was reported to have allegedly set her husband ablaze on Sunday after finding out that the man cheated on her and had a child outside wedlock.

The husband was reportedly rushed to a private hospital in Osogbo and later referred to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, where he eventually died on Tuesday.

The housewife was however said to have left a message on her WhatsApp status, indicating that her action was premeditated.

The message read: “I’ve always been a calm girl and I have never done this in my life but Teebam (her husband) has pushed me to the edge.

“At this point, y’all will weep over myself and him before daybreak. I’m promising y’all that.”

The Osun State Police Command later said it has launched a manhunt for Bamidele for allegedly setting her husband ablaze.

However, it was gathered that Ifeoluwa’s remains were identified by Bode, an elder brother to her husband, at the morgue of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Hospital, Jaleyemi, Osogbo on Friday.

Sources in the hospital disclosed that the deceased was rushed to the hospital on Thursday evening from another hospital in Ilesa, where she was admitted after taking a poisonous substance.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Ifeoluwa died at about 7 p.m. on Thursday.

It was further learnt that Ifeoluwa was brought to the hospital by a relation she contacted and revealed her hideout to.

It was gathered that the deceased left a suicide note which partly read: “I did not kill your friend. You all know.

“I genuinely loved him and I still do even to the point of my death.

“Do findings everywhere, Omobaba and Fourty especially, I am counting on you guys,” she said.
