Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Yetunde Longe as the Nigeria Police Force Secretary.

The IGP also appointed AIG Idowu Owohunwa as the head of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.

The appointments were contained in a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Adejobi noted that the appointments were with immediate effect and followed the retirement of the appointees’ predecessors.

He stated that the appointments were part of ongoing efforts to bolster the efficiency of the Force and multinational approach to tackling crimes in the country.

The police spokesman said AIG Longe, as the Force Secretary, will be responsible for overseeing the secretarial functions of the Force Headquarters, ensuring that policies and directives of the IGP are implemented effectively, as well as coordinating the affairs of senior police officers.

Adejobi added that AIG Owohunwa is tasked with enhancing international police cooperation and ensuring that Nigeria fulfils its obligations within the global INTERPOL framework.

The IGP, while commending the senior police officers for their dedication and service to the Nigeria Police Force, emphasised that their new assignments “is a proof of their exceptional abilities and the trust the Force places in their capabilities”.
