IGP redeploys Abuja, Rivers, Delta police commissioners

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has redeployed the Rivers State, Delta State, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioners of Police with immediate effect.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, was redeployed as the new FCT police commissioner; CP Delta State Command, Abaniwonda Olufemi, as the new CP Rivers State Command; and CP FCT, Peter Opara, as the new Delta State Commissioner of Police.

The latest development was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Adejobi added that following the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC), the IGP also deployed four CPs as Commissioners of Police for Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa-Ibom States.

The deployment, he noted, includes the posting of Danladi Nda to Abia State Command; Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale to Lagos State Command; Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya to Ebonyi State Command; and Festus Eribo to Akwa-Ibom State Command.

The police spokesperson said the posting of the police commissioners reflects the mission of the IGP to strategically reposition the Police Force and ensure maximum utilisation of human resources available to the Force.

He quoted Egbetokun as urging the new police commissioners to ensure diligence in the discharge of their lawful duties and adopt innovations that could mitigate security challenges in their respective areas of responsibility.

The IGP also enjoined them to key into the police reform plans, which he said will help the progress of the Nigeria Police Force and the growth of the country in general.
