The Nigeria Immigration Service has confirmed the arrest of controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, at the Seme border.
Social media influencer, Martins Otse, fondly called VeryDarkMan, had in a post on his Instagram page on Monday, October 21, 2024, announced Bobrisky’s arrest.
Verydarkman said Bobrisky’s arrest was linked to his attempt to evade an ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives.
“Bobrisky has been arrested this morning at the Seme border while trying to enter Benin Republic to escape the current investigation by the House of Reps. He is allegedly being held by Nigerian immigration…Let’s wait for Bob to debunk this. Cho Cho Cho,” Verydarkman wrote.
However, the Service, in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Kenneth Udo, on Monday evening, said Bobrisky was arrested while attempting to flee Nigeria.
Udo noted that the popular cross-dresser is a person of interest in an ongoing probe.
The Immigration spokesman stated: “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to exit the country.

“The Service wishes to inform the public that Okuneye Idris is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.
“He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the country’s borders.”
The controversy surrounding Bobrisky began in April 2024 when he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos State for naira abuse.
VeryDarkMan later released an alleged audio of Bobrisky saying the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) officers demanded N15 million from the cross-dresser to serve his prison term at a VIP Section of the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre in Lagos State.
Bobrisky, however, denied the allegations in a post shared on his social media accounts in September, saying: “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira, and that I was never in prison… I didn’t pay any EFCC money is a very big lie.
“I served my term in full and I came out. Discard any false information.”
