The Imo State House of Assembly has suspended four lawmakers over an alleged move to impeach the Speaker, Chike Olemgbe.
Olemgbe announced the suspension of the lawmakers during plenary in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
The suspended members of the House are Samuel Otuibe, Henry Agbasonu, Chidiebere Ogbunikpa, and Dominic Ezerioha.
Imo lawmakers move to end patients’ detention over hospital bills
The Speaker said the decision to suspend the lawmakers was taken at the executive session, adding that all standing committees belonging to the suspended members have been retrieved from them.
Some of the suspended members of the House present during the announcement declined to speak to newsmen.
